Destination weddings aren’t impossible. Here’s a one-stop list to ensure you get the getaway wedding you and your fiancé desire.

  1. Choose the Destination

This should be an amusing step that will be the foundation necessary to build your special day. Once this is decided you can get started searching hashtags on Insta for the scenic backdrops at your #destination for the best venue location.

2. Choose a Venue Location and Date

This will be the place and day where you have your wedding. Beach in Bali? Vineyard in Napa Valley? Yosemite national park? Remember that dates are limited depending on the season. Contact the resort you plan to get married at asking about their packages and prices. If your vacation is at a national park call to ask if a fee or permit is necessary to have a ceremony in the park. There might be a capacity for your wedding party.

3. Decide how many people you want to attend.

(Number 3 could go before number 2 depending on your devotion to a venue.) Is this an intimate gathering or is it important to you to have your extended family there and part of your church congregation a part of your day? Your location could determine this as most venues have capacity limits.

4. Send Out Save The Dates and RSVPs

Step 4 is necessary to provide you with the numbers your need. TIP- Give people plenty of time to plan but set a strict RSVP deadline to guarantee meals and seats for your guests.

5. Find Vendors Not Provided by Your Venue.

You’ll need to consider a food caterer, wedding cake baker, DJ, photographer/videographer, marriage officiant, and tent/chair rentals.

6. Choose Your Wedding Party

All of the groomsmen and bridesmaids need time to prep. Ask them to be a part of your big day and assign them responsibilities like planning bachelorette and bachelor parties.

7. Book your flight tickets and resort suites!

8. Figure Out Wedding Documents

Documents must be in order before arriving at your destination. Apply for your wedding license for domestic weddings and overseas destinations first. Do you need a visa? Do your guests need a visa?

9. Accommodations for Guests

We all have an Aunt Linda who’s freaking out about leaving the comfort of America.

Are you booking two large Airbnb for your family or are you providing a list of local

lodging? How are you providing this info? Via website or via official invitation?

10. Shop til you Drop

It should be fun looking for a wedding dress and suit. Pick wedding colors and

bridesmaids and groomsmen stores with desired fits for your wedding party.

11. Hair and Makeup

Find makeup artists and hair stylists to make you even more stunning for memorable photos.

12. Enjoy the Process
